The situation

Sleeper sofas are the heaviest thing in most apartments — the steel bed frame roughly doubles the weight of an ordinary sofa. This one had been carried in before the building's elevator was refurbished and no longer fit standing up.

What the crew did

Frame steel went to metal recycling; the upholstered shell was clean and structurally fine, so it went to donation rather than the landfill.

Hallway and elevator pads were used throughout to stay within HOA move rules.

How it turned out

Out and gone inside the HOA's window, the day before the replacement arrived. No landfill fee, because the piece was donatable.
