The situation
The customer's new bed was being delivered that afternoon and the retailer's haul-away only covered one piece, not the split box springs.
Curbside bulky pickup in the area was scheduled weeks out and a mattress left at the curb risks a code citation in the meantime.
What the crew did
Booked in the morning, on site before noon. Both box springs and the mattress were bagged at the door so nothing shed in the hallway.
All three pieces went to a mattress recycler where the steel, foam, and fibre are separated, not to the landfill.
How it turned out
Bedroom cleared before the new bed arrived. Extra pieces in the same weight bracket are charged at the multi-item rate rather than full price each, so the two box springs cost far less than the first piece.
